The Innovation Support Centre has launched a major project called “Latvian language – with pleasure!”. The project will involve 300 persons, third-country nationals* who will be able to learn the Latvian language free of charge in the amount of 120 academic hours. 50% of them will be able to take the national language proficiency test in the National Educational Content Centre (VISC) for free.
Latvian training courses are set at three levels – basic (A), intermediate (B), and advanced (C). All four Latvian language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – will be developed at each level. Training will be suitable for people of different ages. That will help them to learn Latvian in an interactive way and will prepare third-country nationals to use their professional skills, obtaining necessary level of Latvian. That will also be helpful for acquiring a permanent residence permit and to be competitive in the labour market.
The first five groups have already started learning (Level A, beginners). We continue to complete new groups now. Planned training time for the new groups — Tuesday/Thursday: day groups (at 12:00/15:00) and evening group (at 18:00).
